The Curly Marley Twists: Quickie Post

Are you following me on Instagram? a lot of stuff that doesn't make the blog ends up on my instagram @naturalbelleoninstagram I post daily hair and beauty happenings so be sure to follow!
I've currently been experimenting with my Marley Twists I'm now rocking big bouncy curls. This look was easily achieved by using medium sized Flexi Rods and hot water, I think that it has completely changed the look of the twists!

The Face: Healgel

Heal Gel is the  ultimate 'science bit' product originally formulated to help surgeons, proved to be successful in improving the appearance of scarring, redness, puffiness and irritation. I recently got my hands on Healgel Face, Healgel says;

"This step-changing complex acts like HealGel Intensive to rescue unhappy skin, but then takes its transformative effect to the next level.  Arnica and Madecassoside are suspended in liposomes with powerful peptides and biodynes to initiate a uniquely soothing and collagen boosting process.  HealGel Face also contains a unique blend of Omega Oils to replenish dehydrated skin and restore elasticity.  To this another vital dimension is added; a powerful three part hyaluronic acid complex provides a pumping and tightening effect."

Another Anti Ageing cream, Yes. Healgel has had rave reviews from beauty insiders and my initial feelings are good.  The packaging is just fabulous (and you know I'm  sucker for that) and the cream feels like a dream on my skin. The cream is quite light which I was wary of, it seemed a little like a lotion which is a no no for me, watery lotions and milks tend to dry out my skin, however Healgel Face is proving to be very moisturising. Healgel works well with others to, I've been combining it with my Korres Serum. What I love about the Healgel brand is its concentration on it's key products, Healgel is basically a line made up of 3 products, so all their efforts are focused on delivering results. After only a week I'm sucked into the Healgel simplicity.

HealGEL Face is  £48. YES it is expensive, but darling you deserve expensive things! and chocolate. Ok so it's an investment purchase I would suggest checking out many reviews and getting your hands on some samples before taking the plunge. www.healgel.co.uk for more details

The Serum: Korres Black Pine

I like to think that I don't yet have any noticeable wrinkles, they say "black don't crack" but I have seen evidence that this is not always true! So I have taken it upon myself to start taking better care of my skin (don't they say prevention is better than a cure?). With this in mind I picked up Korres Black Pine Antiwrinkle, Firming and Lifting Serum Waitrose £39.00 30ml The main ingredient is Black Pine

"Black Pine extract – rich in polyphenols combined with Black Pine derived Epigallocatechin, protects and strengthens the connective tissue, while working towards boosting its resilience and firming. Epigallocatechin has strong anti-inflammatory properties combined with exceptional firming action as well as protecting against free radicals and collageneses."

Korres Face serum feels great on my skin, I've been using it over a week, and it is moisturising enough to wear alone and it is suitable for all skin types. There are a lot of serums and creams like this available, some people including myself have questioned the result of these youth boosting 'miracle' products I guess only time will tell. Korres however are an amazing brand. The Black Pine serum is

• 93.7% natural content; all packaging components are fully recyclable

• Mineral oil-, paraben-, silione- and phthalate-free

• Not tested on animals; suitable for vegetarians and vegans

Plus I'm in love with he sleek design and packaging, For beauty eco geeks check out the Korres website for their story and you can purchase Korres products in the UK from Waitrose stores nationwide and online

The Challenge: Magnitone Pulsar

If you follow me on Instagram you may well have been following my 7 day Challenge with the Magnitone Pulsar electronic cleanser. Magnitone Pulsar uses Active Electromagnetic Technology, to cleanse, refresh and stimulate your skin.

The Magnitone Pulsar boasts noticeably youthful skin in just 7 days, with 2 attachments, 4 daily cleansing settings. the waterproof tool is quick and easy to set up as well as being simple to use.

I've never used an electric cleanser before, I'm a muslim cloth kind of girl but the Magnitone Pulsar has converted me. I'm totally in LOVE with this handy machine, not only does it cut down bathroom time but it gives a wonderful deep cleanse that I just can't get from scrubbing (unless I want to loose a layer of skin!) I've used the Maganitone Pulsar with 3 Types of cleanser just to see how is worked. I used;

 REN Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser
Balance Me Cleanse and Smooth Balm
Madera Foam Cleanser

The Magnitone Pulsar worked great with all the cleansers even the 'Cleanse & Smooth' which is oil based worked really well. I've tried the Magnitone Pulsar on various settings, their are 4 but I concentrated on gentle cleansing and the deep pore cleansing, the 4 settings are explained below;

  • Gentle Cleansing for Daily Use - Use it for 1 minute, twice a day as part of your normal cleansing routine, to help provide your skin with noticeable youthful benefits. You'll notice softer, tighter feeling skin, a clearer complexion and the diminished appearance of visible pores as well as having silky smooth summer arms and legs all year round.
  • Ultra-Fast Deep Pore Cleansing- Magnitone Pulsar uses an ultra-fast sweeping cleansing action which glides softly across the skin's surface hundreds of times per second, encouraging the trapped-in dirt residue and oily impurities to gently lift out of deep pores.
  • Body Cleanse Brush - Smoother Skin & Less Skin Irritation When used with the Body Cleanse brush (included), Magnitone Pulsar removes dry, rough and dead skin more gently than other methods of exfoliation, to leave your arms and legs feeling silky and smooth, whilst also helping to reduce razor rash and skin irritation after hair removal treatments on legs, armpits and bikini lines.
  • PulseLift Massage Mode - Pulsed Stimulation for the Skin Magnitone Pulsar has 4 daily cleansing modes including its innovative PulseLift Massage mode driven by it's Active Electromagnetic Technology, which provides enhanced stimulation for the skin whilst it cleanses. Use it regularly to feel an increase in blood circulation to those areas that may need special attention. Enhanced blood circulation helps to provide skin cells with oxygen and their vital nutrients to promote skin metabolism and natural collagen synthesis.

I can definitely feel the deference in my skin since using the Magnitone Pulsar,though I had reasonably clear skin to start with but my skin looks and feels smoother, by day 2 I felt my make up looked smoother and skin had a glow to it which I can only put down to the daily light exfoliation morning and night. I'm definitely going to continue using the Magnitone Pulsar as I really have no negatives.

The Magnitone Pulsar came with a charger and adapter plus an extra cleansing head. I charged it as soon as it arrived and I haven't had to recharge it yet. I've also travelled with the Magnitone Pulsar it's the size of a medium sized hair brush so it is quite compact and if fully charged no need to carry around the base. The Maginitone Pulsar would make a great Christmas gift for the girl (or guy) who loves beauty but has everything. It's definitely the kind of thing you didn't realise you needed until you had it and now I just can't live without it!

The Marley Braids

It's been I while since I last posted, I decided to take a well deserved break from the whole blogging thing and constant documentation of my life which kind of gets in the way of actually living it, so after my hiatus I'm back and raring to go.
I've been growing out my mohawk, which is a nightmare (I will not be doing this style ever again no matter how cool it looked!) My hair has been in witness protection for several months, under hair wraps, wigs and my trusty Kurly Klips waiting for my sides to grow in so I could (FINALLY!) put in my Marley Twists.

I used Marley Braid hair by J'Adore in colour 2, you can pick up variations of this hair most hair suppliers. I chose to put the marley braids in quite small and use a loose twisting method. I didn't want a pristine look for the twist so they vary in size and come to around waist length when worn loose.
The twists took 1 full day to apply (however I had to stop and start but I think it would only take 6 hours straight). I used 2.5 packs of hair, by using small strands of hair but twisting loosely I created body with out to much weight on my head.
I love the overall look of these Marley twists and I hope to keep them in for around 6 weeks.

Yves Rocher Elixir 7.9 Youth Energy Day Care

Yves Rocher is one of the best brands I've discovered for reasonably priced products containing natural ingredients that actually work well. Yves Rocher is one of the leading beauty brands in France and is currently available in the UK and USA online. I reviewed their hair care range here One of their new launches is Elixir 7.9 Youth Energy Day Care (£20.90) Elixir 7.9 is botanically based with a mix of 7 plants with anti-ageing properties and 9 patents (hence the 7.9...get it?) active ingredients include;

Elixir 7.9 claims to;

• In one day : signs of fatigue are reduced, radiance is revived.
• In one week : wrinkles are reduced, skin texture is refined and has a more even appearance.
• In one month : skin appears radiant with youth.

I've been using Elixir 7.9 for 3 weeks I can't really give an opinion on it's claims for reducing wrinkles, due to me not having any yet. That being said my skin does seem more radiant and Elixir 7.9 feels great on the skin it's not to thick though it does give lasting moisture and has a silky feel once applied to skin. I haven't had any issue with reactions and this cream is for normal/combination skin.

Elixir 7.9 has a large range for all skin types starting from £20.90, they also offer bundles and offers (currently the line is 47% off) Yves Rocher is great for affordable, natural products and they are available is most counties and cater for all your beauty needs definitely worth having Yves Rocher book marked!

Agese Oils Face Glow Sample

I have had my fair share of beauty boxes over the last 12 months, and Be Box is one of the better beauty boxes in regards to contents, the August box had a good mix of products, mainly for hair and skin. with one full sized products and fair sized samples (and I only got one sachet praise the lord!) The brands included are interesting, a few of which I haven't tried. The box also contained some pretty good discounts on full sized products. The box is the standard £10 (+£2.95)
I would like to have seen more make up samples for women of colour included in the box as that is what the market is really calling out for. Some of the products included in the box were not specific to women of colour. Be Box is really well executed box, the design and the website are really good and the brand is very interactive.
If you want A box that is tailored to women of colour then this is a good box to try you can subscribe to for September box soon in the meantime check out the Be Box website here

The Kurly Klips: Caring For Your Clips

I'm still loving the Kurly Klips, I've been wearing them now for over a week. My previous post shows the Kurly Klips as they arrived without them being treated in any way. The initial look was quite big and wild, so I decided to wash and condition the wefts using Tressemme Naturals

The hair is really easy to wash if you follow the video supplied by Kurly Klips. Detangling is also really easy and due to the wefts triple secured stitch, there was very little shedding. Throughout the week I've found that the hair doesn't shed nor does it tangle very often. when it does tangle it is easily dealt with by spritzing with water and using a little leave in condition. I seems strange but I treat the hair how I would treat my own hair. I don't sleep in the wefts and I try to place the clips in different positions each day so that I'm not put repeat pressure on any one part of my hair. The clips aren't uncomfortable or heavy and so far I've had no trouble with the clips snagging on my natural hair. If I have one gripe, it's finding a place to store my Kurly Klips for now I'm using a gift bag (comment suggestions for storage please!) If you want to check out the Kurly Klips visit www.kurlyklips.com

I'm wearing My Fro in Shoulder Chic, Kurly Klips are available in 3 lengths and 2 texttures both made from 100% human hair.

The Weekend

Another sunny weekend in the UK and another sleepy village visited, we went to the New Forest yesterday and had picnic at the Trusty Servant Inn. It was all very 'olde worlde' the village green actually had a medieval stock (very Knights Tale!)  the New Forest is also the home of Wild Ponies, like for real....random loose ponies just chilling in the street like they own the place! we spotted black and white ponies in the road, the white would not get into position (cheeky thing!) so I have a lovely picture of a ponies butt (or vagina...whatever it is back there) Freya ignored all of this and just played with a stick. So that was my weekend, what did you do?
